    201500 - Scuba

The City of Bryan is proud to partner with Aggieland Scuba to offer PADI Open Water Diver Scuba courses. The courses will be held in various locations with the pool diving portions of the class at the Bryan Aquatic Center and classroom presentations and exams at Aggieland Scuba.

In this course you will complete 5 knowledge development sections with quizzes and exams, 5 confined water (pool) dives, and 4 open water dives held at various locations around our area. The open water dives will be held a separate weekend from the classroom & pool portions of the course and will be scheduled with the instructor during your class sessions.

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a dive computer, and standard accessories. The equipment you wear will be chosen by an Aggieland Scuba Representative to ensure your comfort throughout the course.

Your instructor will contact you the week before the class starts to set up a time to fit you for the equipment used in the class and to get the required reading material.

    Prerequisites:

oSwim 200 yards. There is no time limit for this, and you may use any swimming strokes you want.
oFloat and tread water for 10 minutes, again using any methods you want.

Please be sure to review the receipt documents for this course and return them filled out to your instructor on the first day of your class.

301120 - Bryan Barracudas TAAF Swim Team

Please Note: this is a different team than the Bryan Barracudas summer league swim team. If you wish you enroll your child in the summer league swim team please enroll in the Bryan Barracudas Swim Team Activity #101011.

The City of Bryan is excited to offer our family swimming program this spring with the Bryan Barracudas TAAF Spring Swim Team!! Join us at the Bryan Aquatic Center for advance level swim practice with our coaches. As long as you’re 13 years of age or older, able to swim 300 yards without stopping and know a minimum of 2 strokes, we have a place for you! All swimmers UNDER the age of 13 are required to get approval through the Aquatics Supervisor and Head Swim Coach in order to participate in this program. There is a TAAF Swimming rule limiting the practice time of all participants under the age of 13 to 90 minutes per week before the TAAF swimming season begins.

This program aims to provide an opportunity for participants to get quality swim workouts each week in a family environment. We accept anyone that can meet the minimum age and swimming requirements - participants under the age of 13 who wish to participate will need to contact Marty Mulgrew at mmulgrew@bryantx.gov to ensure they meet the swimming ability requirements and understand the eligibility criteria. Practices will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays each week.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete in the T.A.A.F. Region 5 Swim Meet on July 16, 2019 at the Bryan Aquatic Center - those that qualify at this meet will be eligible to swim at the T.A.A.F. Summer Games of Texas championship meet at the Texas A&M natatorium on July 25-28, 2019.

Participants will pay a monthly fee for practice.
